Some notes, thoughts & reminiscences
Martin:
Not three bad. I like the acoustic kick-off. The long spoken verses are a good idea, but would have benefited from a volume lift -- all the nuances of air flow have been completely lost. Oh yeah, the lyrics are also mine. For guidance, and a theme, I remember visiting my coterie of R 'n' B divas. On reflection, more time should have been spent working-out the vocal patterns and syllable counts. A few more repetitions of the key phrases is also needed. For example, the chant towards the end of the song -- "So this is misery, I now know, I'm left in agony" -- would have been a good one to milk for a few more repeats. Again this number features plenty of great guitar atmospherics. Check-out the section at 9:32 -- nice.
Ollie:
A really ambitious song. It starts off beautiful and mellow before finally building to a crescendo. I think it shows the band developing and diversifying. I'm quite fond of my bass playing on this song.
This is the first song to feature lyrics written by Martin.
